These are the staff officer Winter Class A "Pinks and Greens" garrison cap that was of a private purchase (Airborne/PX) variation.  Their popular nickname in the 1940s was "Overseas Cap", among other colorful descriptions.  These were commonly worn by paratroops and other specialty soldiers during early WWII but then opened up to many US Army soldiers during the later months.  They were distinctive from the standard army issue style garrison cap of the 1940s as the top "gusset" being omitted and pronounced front and rear top corners.  This ABN style made for a classy looking pointed front and back shape as the WWII era paratroopers wore them. Some historians call this the precursor to the more squared “Ft Knox” garrison Cap.

Attention all historically minded current US Army service members:  By popular request, we are now offering our excellent quality "Pinks and Greens" ABN style OS caps with current AGSU Heritage Green shade piping.   These are a great throwback to the 1940's vintage styling of the WWII ABN style Pinks and Greens cap.  Though, these can now be worn by all soldiers and not just airborne. The fabric used for caps with Heritage Green piping exclusively is 100% wool elastique in the AGSU Heritage Green shade. They are fully Dark Olive satin lined with genuine brown leather headband. Wearing note: For proper historic fit and shaping, top of the cap should be indented with your fingers so that the top hugs the head with the corners peaked.
